A mild earthquake measuring 4.5 on the richter scale jolted Dhaka and some other areas in Bangladesh around 10.46 in the morning on Friday.
The Bangladesh meteorological Department (BMD) reported that the earthquake was located at Golapganj in Sylhet district which is 202 kilometres north east of the BMD Seismic centre at Agargaon in Dhaka.
The USGS reported that the depth of the earthquake was 10 km. According to its calculation the intensity of the earthquake was 5 on the Richter scale.
No loss of life or damage to property has been reported from any part of Bangladesh.
