The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding the extremely severe cyclonic storm “Biparjoy” over the east-central Arabian Sea. The storm is currently moving northwards with a speed of 5 kmph and is expected to cross the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, as well as the adjoining coast of Pakistan, by noon on the 15th of June.
India Meteorological Department issued a Cyclone alert for Saurashtra & Kutch Coast. It is very likely to move nearly northward till 14th morning, then move north-northeastwards and cross Saurashtra & Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) by noon of 15th June as a very severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the districts of Kutch, Jamnagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Junagadh, and Porbandar in Gujarat. The alert status includes an Orange alert for the 14th of June and a Red alert for the 15th of June.
Indian Coast Guard Region (Northwest) has initiated outreach to advise fishing community, mariners & stakeholders of Gujarat, Daman & Diu to take necessary precautions & safety measures. Indian Coast Guard units are sending regular advisories to ships at sea.
