After 11 years, UP to host 81st annual convention of Indian Road Congress The participants will learn about the spiritual and cultural features of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mathura, and other places after the convention.

After 11 year, the 81st annual convention of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) will be held in Uttar Pradesh from October 8 to 11. More than 2500 delegates from India and abroad will participate in the event to be held at Indira Gandi Pratishthan in Lucknow.

The last such event was held in Lucknow in 1985.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath together will inaugurate the event. Union Minister of State General VK Singh will also be present.

Defence Minister and Member of Parliament from Lucknow Rajnath Singh has been invited to the concluding session, revealed Public Works Minister Jitin Prasad while speaking to the media at Lok Bhawan on Saturday.

This convention started in 1934. UP will host it for the fifth time.

A total of 200 delegates from the state of Uttar Pradesh will also attend, said Jitin Prasad. The participants will learn about the spiritual and cultural features of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mathura, and other places after the convention.

“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as ‘Expressway Pradesh.’ The new technology has reduced carbon emissions by around 5 million tonnes in the state. In order to achieve the Chief Minister’s goal of making the state a $1 trillion economy by 2027, the infrastructure and roadways have a specific role to play. Codes on technical topics like FDR will be brought to the convention, which will be very helpful to UP,” he said.

UP will host the convention for the fifth time

This is the fifth IRC session in Uttar Pradesh, according to Minister Jitin Prasad. Delhi hosted the first session in December 1934. It was held at UP in 1937, 1985, 1995, and 2011. Uttar Pradesh will now enjoy the glory this year.

UP will also have a session in the convention

There will also be a session dedicated to UP in at the event, in which we will present our best works, informed Jitin Prasad. “There will be 19 technical sessions in all. It will be particularly effective for subjects like new road construction technologies, infrastructure, and good, affordable, long-lasting, and safe roads.”

Technical experts from the nation and abroad, state and local engineers, organisations involved in building roads and bridges, scientists, and consultants will give presentations on a variety of subjects. The technical exhibition, which will have 180 booths, featuring information on machinery, materials, equipment, and new technologies from various road construction companies.

Along with this, visitors will be made aware of the state’s artisans’ skills through One District, One Product (ODOP). During this time, a cultural event will also be planned.

Students will have the chance to take part

According to Jitin Prasad, engineering students would also benefit greatly from this convention.This will go a long way in making a career in the field of road construction and creating self-employment through startups. The engineers will also benefit much from this convention. UP PWD officers have been chosen to serve on 16 national committees.
